Product Description
Robyn Gallagher inherits a car from the mother-in-law she believes disapproved of her. In it, she sets out from the town where she buried Muriel, on the banks of the Bay of Fundy, to go on a cross-country road trip back to her home in Calgary. Although there are hazards along the way, Robyn discovers that her journey crosses more than just physical terrain. The long stretches of solitude enable her to finally speak her mind to Muriel, to settle old scores, and to seize the opportunity to reflect on where she stands -- both within herself and within the world. At times furious, funny, and deeply compassionate, From This Distance is the life-affirming story of one woman's liberation from limited expectations.

Sarah McLachlan Ol'55

This is the version I like the best, so far. ;)

"Ol '55" (cover) - Matthew Jordan

Found this by accident. Friend of mine bought a Tom Waits songbook today to learn the keyboard parts...I noticed this was one of the songs and remembered a version by Sarah McLachlan that I adore but couldn't find it on youtube anywhere...stumbled upon this and am happy I did.

Finally Fall like weather

It's been a while since I last posted. It's been so hot here, I haven't felt like doing much. Been feeling extremely "blah" this summer. We didn't get to go out to Nakusp, BC as we usually do due to forest fires in the area. That was tough not going out there this summer, to swim in the lake, enjoy the views and visit with our friends. It just hasn't felt like summer at all here. Then when we're finally resigned to the fact that it's been a lousy summer and fall is on the way it goes up to 33C here last week! I don't like the heat to begin with (unless I can go swimming in a river, lake or ocean) so I wasn't thrilled with it. I want to start coming inside more now, play my guitar more (which I also didn't even feel like doing much this summer) and start making soups, stews and stuff. It's finally a bit more seasonable here today. But windy again! URGH! I'm so sick of the wind too.

The 2 weeks Paul had off in August were cold and wet here so we couldn't even to camping. We did manage to go out to the Kananaskis for 2 nights. Figured if it's cold and wet, at least we could be in a nice lodge with good food, spa etc. And it gave me a little break from cooking and stuff around here. I've actually had the fireplace or furnace on all summer here. Not everyday or all day but in the mornings to take the chill out of the house. Crazy weather!!!!! The 2nd week of Paul's vacation we painted the dining room. That was fun and turned out well, we think.

So that's what I've been up to. Basically nothing. I feel like Shirley Valentine. That I need to go away on a holiday and not come back for a while. But things seem to be changing this week. Feeling a bit better emotionally and physically, started guitar lessons again and my teacher says he wants to take me to the next level. Meaning I can play the guitar, now he wants to teach me how to "play" the guitar, if you know what I mean. I'm on my laptop downstairs and all my pics are on the computer upstairs.....maybe I'll post some pics tomorrow.
